Taking Flight: The Story of Giant Eagle

Giant Eagle, the largest food retailer in the Pittsburgh region, was founded by five immigrant families in 1931; these same families retain ownership to this day. Archival images, memorabilia, quotes from family members and employees, and writer Mary Brignano’s lively narrative combine in this publication. A spirited typographic design conveys the different voices of the story, and aptly captures the personalities and characters of the five founding families.
