Allegheny Commons
Signage for an historic city park
This 130-year-old park on Pittsburgh’s North Side is undergoing reconstruction to reclaim a wonderful urban green space and restore some of the park’s lost 19th-century features. We designed new signage to help visitors enjoy the park. The signs combine sculptural ironwork (referencing the George Washington Monument in North Common) with elegant typography. Our goal was to add modern wayfinding while paying homage to the historic character of the Commons.
