A city promotes cultural tourism

Pittsburgh Architectural Tourism Committee

Although widely regarded as significant architectural landmarks, H.H. Richardson’s Allegheny Courthouse and Jail were often overlooked by visitors to the region. Pittsburgh’s Architectural Tourism Committee wanted to bring these elegant structures to the public’s attention.

Together with an industrial design firm and an architect, we designed two permanently-placed outdoor exhibit panels to reveal the history and architectural splendor of the buildings. A brochure for a self-guided walking tour and a system of installed tour icons in the building expands the experience (The panels appeared in Communication Arts magazine in September, 2000).
