The Kenyon Review

Bringing a venerable literary magazine to the web

A few years ago, we redesigned The Kenyon Review’s print journal. This new website brings a unified look to their print and digital formats, focuses more attention on their exclusive web journal KROnline, and provides an easy-to-navigate experience.

The site archives over a decade of content and allows the user to sort by categories including issue number, author, and genre. Features include an integrated blog, an online submission system for writers, a series of interviews with notable writers, and a store where visitors can buy back issues, subscriptions, and more. We partnered with Developed Simple to build a custom WordPress CMS, giving the editors at KR a robust platform to manage their content.

The journal’s signature cover stripe—which changes from one bold hue to another each issue—appears prominently in the new design. The header’s color can be easily changed, guaranteeing that the website matches each new issue as it appears on newsstands.
